A Message from The Headteacher

I hope you have all had a good week. We're finishing our week with a day that includes some bouncy castle fun! Thanks very much to Friends of Hollickwood for organising and to all the parents and carers who gave up their time today. Pictures in next week's news-letter!

We have adjusted our staffing arrangements for September. This is because the numbers of children in our two early years classes (Nursery and Reception) for September looks like it might exceed the point where we could effectively operate as a combined Early Years unit. So we are going to recruit a new teacher for key stage 2 and Ms. O'Brien will return to being the Reception teacher in September.

Staffing now looks like this:

Nursery - Ms. Gath and Ms. Kevin
Reception - Ms. O'Brien and Ms. Moore
Ms. Kasamias will continue to teach both classes
Year 1 - Mrs. Neal and Ms. Powell
Year 2 - Mrs. Boulton
Year 3 - Vacant - selection process is underway
Year 4 - Mrs. Johnston
Year 5 - Mr. Pitchers
Year 6 - Ms. Goodfellow

I am very confident that we will be able to recruit a great teacher for year 3 and am looking forward to the new year with a really great team of teachers, supported by our current specialists in PE, Art and Spanish.

You will have seen that we have added an additional Sports Day so that key stage 2 are now split between Tuesday the 6th (years 3 and 4) and Thursday 8th (years 5 and 6). This is so that we can clean equipment between classes more easily. Key stage 1 (years 1 and 2) is on Wednesday the 7th. Unlike most local schools, we are inviting parents to come and watch, although this is limited at the moment to one adult per child and you must get a ticket from Apsra at the office, which you can reserve by phone or email. Early Years Sports Day is on Friday 9th July, details will be sent out.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Happy Solstice and Happy Pride to everyone!

I hope you've all had a good week, it's been lovely and busy here in school and so far the delta variant hasn't impacted us too badly. It has affected other schools, with whole cohorts being sent home after positive tests in other London Boroughs. It would be really sad to have to close a class here at this stage of the year, so please maintain all anti-transmission measures. Symptoms to look out for are a little different with this

Usually, at this time of year, we would have lots of events to invite you to, summer fair, sports days and performances. However, circumstances and health guidance mean that this year is different. At least we can run the events, unlike last summer, the differences relate to you, our audiences!

Here are the dates for some of the main events:

Key stage 1 (years 1 and 2) Sports Day - Wednesday 7th July at 1:30pm
Key stage 2 (year 3, 4, 5, and 6) Sports Day - Thursday 8th July at
