Lavender’s visit to Arts Depot

Year One had a fantastic morning on Tuesday visiting the Arts Depot to watch a performance of Beegu. The show was great and the children even got the opportunity to meet Beegu afterwards.

Football News

On Wednesday our boys football team played Our Lady of Lourdes at home. First half went to plan with Hollickwood taking the lead 1-0 with a goal from Kareem. Hollickwood had control pretty much for the first 20 minutes. Kareem then scored another goal on the volley. We began the second half with confidence only for the away team to score 2 goals back which took us to draw at full time. Then extra time started for us only to go down another two goals.

E-safety day at Hollickwood

We had a great training day yesterday on e-safety, how to keep children safe online, whether using social networks, playing games, or other apps and websites. There were sessions for all classes from year 1 to 6, a training session for staff and a session for parents and carers. I know parents found it extremely informative. Many of you were unable to attend, but information can be found at

www.thinkuknow.co.ukwww.saferinternet.org.uk and the police site www.ceop.police.uk amongst others. It would be a good idea to have a look at some of these sites and the materials. We will revisit e safety with the children each term.

Christmas Concert

All KS2 children will be performing in the Christmas Concert next week. It will take place on Tuesday at 2pm and Wednesday 6pm. Children will be in school uniform, they must wear either a white shirt or polo shirt. For Wednesday’s performance all children need to be back at school at 5:40pm.

Class Parties 17th and 18th December

Sunflower (Rec) Class party will take place on Wednesday 17th December and the rest of the school on Thursday 18th December. Food lists will be going up on the classroom doors. Sign up to bring something in on Thursday. Hollickwood operates a strict NO NUTS policy. Please remember to keep our school’s healthy eating in mind as well as being mindful to allergies, although on this occasion we will allow the odd chocolate treat.

Last Day of Term

Nursery Friday 19th December

Last day for Nursery children is 18th December 2014. There will be no Nursery on Friday 19th December and all nursery children will be back on Tuesday 7th January 2014.

School Ends 19th December

End of this term for Reception – Year 6 will be on Friday 19th December 2014 at 1:30pm. Please remember to pick your children up on time. It is very distressing when a child is collected late, but even more so on the last day of term.

On Tuesday 18th November we had a netball match against St.Paul’s School. We walked to St.Paul’s, which was a long way but we got warmed up both physically and vocally! When we got there we practiced shooting while Mrs Rutherford and the other teacher were deciding who was the ref. They decided to share the job.

St Paul’s won the toss and decided to take the first centre pass. We got the choice of which end we would like to shoot in. We started really strong and within no time we
