Cactus class trip to Millfield Theatre

Year 6 went to the Millfield Theatre to watch an amazing version of Romeo & Juliet which had them all on the edges of their seats. It was set in modern times and included songs by Ed Sheeran and other well-known artists. The fight scenes were a particular favourite with some, whilst the tragic ending had others reaching for the tissues. A truly memorable experience.

Staff training on writing

On Monday, when school was closed to children, all staff received an excellent training session on writing from Sue Heaney, who has many years of experience and considerable expertise in the field. The particular focus was the editing and redrafting process, whereby children are supported to improve their work and increase its effectiveness. Sue gave us a lot of valuable insights and all staff have been equipped with further knowledge and skills which they can bring to their work to maximise the impact of our teaching on the children's writing. It was a very worthwhile session.
