This week Years 3,4 and 5 took part in Aspire London Youth Choir’s Big sing at the Watford Colosseum. They all did amazingly well and we hope the parents that came to see the performance enjoyed it.

Year 6 have gone off to enjoy this week in the Isle of Wight. From the updates we have been receiving they are having a fabulous time and the sun is shining for them–
We will share some of their adventures next week.

Please bring in your jars filled with sweeties for the summer fair. Leave them with the office during the week of 25th June. Please avoid jelly sweets, unless wrapped, as they go all gooey on a hot day!

Drop off and collection procedure:


At Hollickwood School, your child’s safety is of utmost importance to us. Our ability to safeguard your children is robust due to the support from all parents and carers. As part of Hollickwood’s safeguarding responsibilities, we have reviewed our procedures and made a number of changes to ensure your child’s safety remains a priority.

Therefore, we would like to clarify the measures in place at the start and end of the school day. Opening times:

Front gate:

08:30-09:00
15:10-15:30
16:25-16:30

Back gate:

08:30-09:00
15:10-15:30

Parents/carers of children in Early Years are welcome to support their child into the setting until 9:00am when the gates will be secured. For all other year groups, children enter the class at 8:50am, when the second bell rings, with school staff. It will not be permitted for adults to be inside the building unless attending a prearranged event. If you have a message or concern, please go to the school office where a member of staff will help you.

Unless your child is attending Breakfast club or reading eggs please remain with your child in the playground until your child’s class teacher arrives to take them into the school building.

If your child arrives after 8.50am please bring them to the school office where a member of staff will take them to their classroom and sign them in on the late register.
School finishes at 3.20pm if you are running late to collect your child please inform the school office as soon as possible. Your child will remain with a staff member until 3.50pm after this time if you have still not collected your child they will be taken to after school club and charges will apply.

In any event that you are running late or your child is not attending school please do inform the school straight away on 020 8883 6880.

The new GDPR (general data protection regulations) came into effect on Friday 25th May 2018 we as a school have always complied with Data protection and handle all of your data with care, please do ensure that you return the consent forms which have been given to you for each child that attends our school. If you are unsure as to what each section relates please do come and see Emma in the office.

 

Summer Fair—Auction items

A gentleman who has been working with the gardening club has made two bird boxes (from an unloved venetion blind) which he is kindly donating to us to be auctioned at the Summer Fair. We have had some lovely pieces made for our wild garden too, so please do take a look at the next opportunity.

 

Art exhibition

Liga will be working with all the children to create pieces of artwork which will be exhibited from 25th June -  10th July. These pieces will be available to purchase - please keep an eye out for more details.

This week our children have taken part in many football tournaments. Years 1,2, 3 and a rounders tournament for year 4. Well done to all the children who took part and thank you to the parents and adults in making the effort to get your children to the destinations on time.

A huge well done to the girls from years 2 and 3 who came runners up in the final they put in a huge effort and did themselves and the school very proud.

The Gardening club have been very busy again

 

Well done to Year 6 students this week for taking their SATS they have coped amazingly well and kept in good spirits throughout.

They have enjoyed a well earned trip to the park today and a party this afternoon.

 

Science fair 26th June

KS2 children can take part in this years Science Fair run by Alexandra Park School. The project can be an experiment to answer a question, a problem and solution or a research project. Based on an area of Science that interests your child.

Entries must be in by MONDAY 18TH

 

This week we have welcome Ms Constantinou back from maternity leave. Everyone has been exciting about catching up with her.

Last week our wonderful Year 5 JTA's organised a Road safety poster design competition. We had some wonderful entries which we showed you last week , The JTA’s presented an assembly to thank you all for your entries. The entries were bright, engaging and informative posters. Well done.

Year 6

This week year 6 have taken mock SATs they have coped amazing well. We hope to this continues when they sit the actual tests later this term.

The Big Pedal

This week we have been taking part in the big pedal we do need a bit more of a push as we haven’t travelled as far as we had hoped. So If you Cycle or scoot to school for 2 days in a row we would like to invite you to a Biker’s breakfast at 8.30am on Thursday in the new room.

Welcome back to the start of the Summer term. We’ve had a great start to the term.

Year 6 visited Churchill’s war rooms as they are studying WW1. The rooms are divided into two areas: the original Cabinet War Rooms, including the all-important Map Room, and the Churchill Museum, which chronicles the life and work of the revered wartime leader.

Year 1 Trip to Pizza express

Year One had so much fun during their marble treat to Pizza Express this week. They enjoyed learning to make their own pizzas and of course eating them! The trip even consolidated their learning of fractions by making topping choices in halves and quarters. Thank you Pizza express Muswell Hill.

Science week 26th-29th March

There is lots happening at school next week.

Monday 26th March - The children will be learning about job roles based around Science. We are lucky enough to have a radiographer coming in to take an assembly for the children to learn all about X rays.

Easter egg hunt between 9am-12 noon 

Tuesday 27th Easter engineering challenge - all work produced will be displayed in the hall on Wednesday from 8.30am

We have a piano concert on Tuesday at 9.10am

Alexandra Palace Year 1 trip

Last Friday Year 1 enjoyed learning about our local area. The children found out what activities the Victorians liked to carry out at Alexandra palace and were surprised that many of them are still continued there today. For example The spectacular Firework display. Sadly to the children’s disappointment they no longer hold Monkey or goat shows.

Reminders—Early closures

Thursday 15th March Parents consultations Year 1,2,3,4 and 5 will finish at 1.30pm, Nursery Reception and Year 6 will remain in school until 3.20pm there will be no After school provisions on this day.
We break up for Easter on Thursday 29th March at 1.30pm ( Nursery’s last day will be Wednesday 28th March) All children return to school on Tuesday 17th April 2018.

There’s so much to show you. Thank you all for making the extra effort to join in all activities this week despite the snowy “Beast from the east” making a grand entrance.
