Year 1 - Topic Our Local Area

On Monday Year 1 were exploring the local area. They were amazed at how long Sydney Road was. They reminisced about certain activities they had carried out with their families along the route. They managed to clock up an impressive 8000 steps and need-less to say they were ready for their Lunch when they arrived back.

School Lunches - We will be on Week 3 ( you can find the menus on our school website) of the dinner menu for W/c 22nd January. Due to dinners being prepared off site may we remind you school dinners must be booked in, in advance using School Money. Even if you are Universal Free School Meals (KS1) and Free School Meals. Failure to book in will mean that there will be no hot dinner available.

Coffee morning - on Thursday 25th January the team from CommUNITY parenting Consortium will be joining us to speak to you about a 12 week parenting programme. Please do come along and find out what it is all about and also to meet with other parents.

As a token of appreciation for allowing the UCLA to observe Year 1 children this week, they have kindly donated a voucher to enable us to purchase some new reading material.

Spare Uniform - If you child has come home in spare uniform provided by the school please can you return this to us—washed and ready for the next person to borrow should they need to.

Year 3 children had a great week. They investigated how different objects reflect different amounts of light and learnt what 'shiny' means.

Did you know that 'shiny' means 'reflecting light?

The children enjoyed designing reflective objects. They gave them scientific names.

On Friday 2nd February we will be taking part in the NSPCC Number day. We are asking the Children to dress up as a Number - be creative. Along with this we are also asking that you bring in a cake ( home made—shop brought) but decorated using Numbers as the theme. There will be a prize for the Best 3 cakes. Best of all the cakes we will then be sold at the end of the day and all money raised will be donated to NSPCC. ( Year 3 as you are out on a Trip this day please can you remain in Uniform but do bring in your cakes to enter into the cake competition)
