We are almost there. 1 more week ( well 3 days) to go.

This week the children were lucky enough to have 2 performances. Firstly an assembly produced by Pathways, the children enjoyed being part of the performance.

The Second performance was by The Globe players of the Hans Christian Andersen story of The Tinderbox.

A group of year 6 children accompanied Mr Vivian and Ms Johnston in a carol concert at Sunshine Garden centre. Their performances were very much appreciated by the Christmas shoppers and they showed their appreciation by giving generously.

Thursday and Friday the children from Nursery, reception and KS1 performed their Christmas show to parents, friends of Hollickwood and even a former student who attended over 80 years ago. I am sure you will all agree they were fabulous.

Reading Challenge

Well done to all those that took part. With your valiant efforts you did hit the £600.00 target, this has enabled us to place orders for £960.00 worth of new books. We must give a special mention to Molly in Year1 who with support from her family and friends raised an amazing £200.00, prizes will be given out next week to Molly and to each person who raised the most for each class.

Christmas dinner/ School Lunches

A hot Christmas dinner was enjoyed by children and staff on Wednesday. We do appreciate your patience with the hot dinner situation and we are please to confirm that next week there will be a hot selection available. Please can we remind you that you will need to book a school dinner and make payment using School money. Failure to book lunches in advance will result in you being asked to provide a packed lunch.

Attendance and Punctuality

League tables have been released as a school we are in the bottom 10% for Attendance, as a result collectively we must work together to improve this. We have attached a document with hints and tips on how to keep your child’s attendance on track. We will be following government procedures which may result in Fixed penalty notices. To help improve attendance please note that lateness also counts as missed lessons. Do endeavour to get your children to school on time for registration 8.50am, any absences must be made known to the office staff by a phone call, in writing and any medical/dental appointments. Proof of appointment must be given to the office.

Newsround Extra

Year 4 have been writing their own news. They have been reading it in the Newsround Studio. They have been adding their own pictures and sounds. To see what your children have been up to please use the logins they have been provided — USO Login.

Hollickwood School Colleges

Colleges have this term spent time learning about democracy, human rights and having the right to vote. Using their right to Vote they have elected their college representative.

Year 3 Surprise trip

Year 3 were treated to a surprise theatre trip to see Matilda on Wednesday - performance was amazing, parents you did so well to keep the early Christmas treat a secret. The children felt very
inspired after the show and wrote amazing acrostic poems about the show.

Thank you to Ms Hinc for organising this.

Friends of Hollickwood

The Friends & Gardening Club will be running a fun Reindeer Challenge game for the children on the morning of Tuesday 19th December and would love volunteers to help marshal. No skills required, only smiles and Christmas spirit! Please let the office know if you are able to help.

Friends of Hollickwood would like to give Diana (Reception year mum) a HUGE thank you for her tremendous work on the crowd funding campaign.

Diana had a wonderful vision for the school, she worked tirelessly to raise the funds and hit her whopping target of £3100.00.

What she has done is unprecedented and she really does deserve a standing ovation.

In the New Year, plans will be underway to execute her vision.

In the meantime, Friends of Hollickwood would like to wish you all a very happy festive season and a Happy New year.
