Hollickwood School Governing Body
We have a committed and hardworking Governing Body at Hollickwood School. Our job is to work with the school leadership team to secure the best possible outcomes for all the children who attend here.
Below you can read about the members of the Governing Body. Governors can be contacted through the School Office and further information, such as Terms of reference and meeting minutes, are available on request.
Ed Tytherleigh, CHAIR, CO-OPTED GOVERNOR
Elect date: 19/09/2015
I have worked in the voluntary sector for over 20 years and I have been a Chief Executive in the charity sector for over ten years, so I know a lot about running non-profit institutions, but I am having to learn very fast about education!
I joined Hollickwood’s governing body in 2014 and became a Governor because I have twins going through the school and I want to do a voluntary role in the community, having lived in Muswell Hill for more than ten years.
I was asked to become Chair in 2016 and I hope to see it become an excellent school before I hand over the role to someone else.
Kirstie Stroud, CO-OPTED GOVERNOR
I am a co-opted governor at Hollickwood and a parent; both my children attend Hollickwood. I am the Vice Chair and the Inclusion link governor for Hollickwood. This includes Special Educational Needs, Looked After Children, Safeguarding, English as an Additional Language, able/talented pupils, Pupil Premium and behaviour management.
I have worked in a primary school all of my career; as a teacher since 2001 and, in more recent years, as an Assistant Head teacher at Duncombe School in Islington and Associate Governor. I am passionate about education and am excited to be a governor at Hollickwood. The skills and experience I have gained from working in a diverse, inner city primary school mean I am well equipped to support Hollickwood to become an increasingly successful school which achieves the highest of standards.
As well as giving children the best start in life, I believe that a good local school can benefit its community immensely. I particularly like the supportive, close-knit community and friendly environment offered to the families of Hollickwood.
I have been a local Councillor for Coppetts for 17 years and for most of this time been a Governor at Hollickwood School as well as the Compton School. For 15 years I managed the Old Barn Community Centre in East Finchley which run an after-school club, holiday play schemes and youth clubs. My present job is safeguarding children on behalf of Community Barnet; that involves working on child protection in the voluntary and faith sector.
I am a mother of two children at Hollickwood School and have been part of the school community for over five years. My youngest child has recently started reception and I now have some extra time in which I would like to dedicate to supporting the school further.
I work part time as a therapy radiographer, a job which requires good communication skills and empathy in a emotionally challenging environment. I feel these skills make me approachable and have allowed me to build a good rapport with parents of the school.
Additionally, in the past five years I have been heavily involved in working with Friend of Hollickwood. I feel that the knowledge and skills gained form this put me in a good position to strengthen the partnership between friends, governors and staff, one of the job specifications of this parent governor role.
Above all I feel Hollickwood is a lovely community school and I would like to be involved in helping it to achieve its full potential.
Elect date: 12/12/2016
Re-elect date: 11/12/2020
I have been a journalist for over 20 years. I am currently director of content and strategy at branded video agency Nemorin Film & Video, and a digital journalism coach at Archant, the regional media group. My son is in year one at Hollickwood.
Elect date: 27/03/2017
Re-elect date: 26/03/2021
I have been working in Finance for the hospitality sector for nearly 10 years. I am a fully qualified accountant and Head of Finance in my current role.
Having been brought up in Muswell Hill and wanting to give something back to the community, becoming a Governor was the perfect way to help me do this. I am hoping to bring my Financial expertise to help govern the school.
Stuart Bewley, PARTNERSHIP GOVERNOR
Elect date: 26/03/2018
Re-elect date: 25/03/2022
I am currently a Global Performance and Reward Manager at HSBC and have an MSc in Human Resource Management. In my current role I manage Pay and Performance strategy for 40,000 HSBC staff across 60 countries, and previous to this have a background in Reward from various roles at News Corps, KPMG and United Utilities.
I have spent much of my recent time living in north London and wanted to get involved with a local school, in order to help use my professional experience to benefit the school and local children who attend.
I believe that some of the people involved in my early education have been fundamental to my own career success, and recognise that primary education can really help shape a young person’s future. I hope that during my time as a governor at Hollickwood I am able to contribute to providing the best possible environment for the children who attend the school.
Elect date: 28/01/2019
Re-elect date: 27/02/2023
I have lived locally to Hollickwood for over 10 years now, and I have two boys attending the school.
I work part-time as an Ofsted registered childminder, and part-time for Grace Church as their Children and Families Outreach Worker, running after school clubs, toddler groups and other midweek activities in addition to Sunday groups.
I am passionate about local community, and particularly love the diversity we benefit from at Hollickwood school.
